Portrait Photographers New York City will have no difficulty at all finding persons with interesting and intriguing life stories to tell. What will set the very best professional portrait photographer apart from the rest, however, is how well they can tell that story in just one image. The ability to connect the subject of a portrait with those viewing it, whether in a single glance or in prolonged study, is one that takes years of practice and tireless field work. I had the privilege of photographing Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, former President of India, during an interview at the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi, sometime before his passing. The image left me then, as now, with a deep appreciation for the contributions he has made to his country and to society as a whole. I recall a quote from Dr. Abdul Kalam which states: “Only the person who has the courage to lose sight of the shore can discover new oceans.” This quote, I feel, can serve as creative inspiration for Portrait Photographers New York City and every corner of the world. While Dr. Abdul Kalam grew up poor, his family history was a strong and proud one with his ancestors having contributed greatly to the development of the area in which they lived. Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam went on to become a career scientist after studying physics and aerospace engineering and he worked extensively in those fields. He will always be remembered as the "People's President," despite the fact that he only served one term in office as India’s 11th President. Dr. Abdul Kalam’s impact in scientific research is so far reaching and recognized, that NASA recently named a new organism after him – the Solibacillus kalamii bacteria. It was found only on the International Space Station and is yet to be detected in any locations on Earth.
