Portrait Photography New York

I have learnt that for your work in Portrait Photography New York to really stand out from the crowd, you must be willing to do just that – to step away from the norm and embrace lines, angles, light and dark in a whole new way. My subject in this particular portrait is Dr. Leila Hoteit whose area of expertise lies in both education and human capital development. At the time, she was principal at Booz & Company and had just carried out a survey into the private school sector in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the myriad opportunities presented there for investors. She has since become Partner and Managing Director, at The Boston Consulting Group (BCG), based in Dubai. Furthermore, Dr. Hoteit was named Businesswoman of the Year at the Arab Woman Awards in 2016. It is an honor that complements the strides she has made in women’s economic empowerment and as an avid women’s advocate. The portrait, emphasizes Dr. Hoteit’s intelligence, experience and strength of character by allowing them to shine out through her eyes. I particularly like that this effect is accomplished without having her look straight-on into the camera. The key element in doing this is the illumination of her face, with other aspects blending into the background, which also fades away. Professional Portrait Photography New York (or anywhere, for that matter) means taking each subject not just on face value, but finding creative ways to use the immediate surroundings so that the final picture represents the subject’s inner qualities. In this regard, professional portrait photography is very unlike high volume photography (HVP), in which we have come to expect a set of standard poses with standard smiles. The ability of the photographer to use both lighting and subject placement, as in this portrait, takes on greater importance in professional portrait photography than it does in HVP.
