My many years of experience as a photographer include time spent in the Middle East, India and Africa. As an Abu Dhabi Photographer, I travelled extensively throughout these areas and I found that each region had its own special points of interest – most notable of all being the people and the landscapes. I was privileged to be welcomed warmly almost everywhere I went and the hospitality extended to me is something I will never forget. The region has many different cultures, each one a beautiful expression of how the past and traditions have shaped each society. The future is here, too, as there are signs of progress almost everywhere you look. Nowhere is there more illustration of how the future is being eagerly embraced than in Abu Dhabi. It is the capital of the United Arab Emirates and the country’s second most populous city. It is a city that welcomes the rest of the world and enjoys creating an atmosphere where new architectural marvels mingle with symbols of the people’s heritage, as well as, with the natural beauty of numerous parks and green areas. Adding to all of that is the wide variety of activities that take place in the city. No doubt about it, Abu Dhabi intrigues all who venture there whether it is for business or pleasure or both! For an expert Abu Dhabi Photographer, such as myself, there are always stories waiting to be captured and told by my camera. One of those stories is the annual Abu Dhabi International Book Fair. It is a rewarding experience for the publishers, authors, illustrators and other professionals within the industry. The Book Fair is also an enlightening experience for everyone else, mostly because of the interactive nature of many of its exhibits and presentations. The opening of the Book Fair is marked by a visit from His Highness Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, shown here perusing a bit of what the Fair has to offer.
